Introducing the Next Generation Connectwell Relay Boards ( CIMRE) - Feature Packed for Safety, Aesthetics and Performance.
Jan 2023
Relays are an integral part of any process, be it a control panel required in the plant to a complex high voltage switchyard, relays can be found everywhere. Though there are many types of relays, with differences in construction, the basic working principle of a relay is the same. In fact, relays were used instead of PLC to build the computing logic needed in process plants.. Relay have evolved over these years and today find use in a multitude of industrial applications.
Connectwell is a leading manufacturer of electromechanical and electronic control panel components with over 4 decades of experience. This experience has helped us design and develop the Next generation relay boards which find many advantages over conventional relay boards. Let's deep dive in today to find what these advantages are.
Completely Enclosed Design
Conventional relay boards are exposed to heat and dust thus reducing the life of the components which makes them vulnerable to failure before the calculated lifecycle. Connectwell's next-generation relay boards provide a fully enclosed, IP20, Finger safe product which is designed in such a way that all the internal critical electronic components are completely enclosed inside the body thus not exposing it to heat or dust deterioration, which can reduce the life of the board or cause untimely component failure. Also, the completely enclosed design assures no-shock hazards with IP20 protection.
Long Tail Jumpers
For creating a common negative or positive configuration, jumpers are used. Conventionally the jumpers were very short which can be a challenge when changing the jumper pins. Connectwell's next-generation relay boards come with pre-installed long tails jumpers which are easy-to-use and enable quick and easy creation of common negative circuits.
Pre-configured Common Negative Configuration
Most Relay Boards are used in the industry in a configuration in which the negative polarity of the coil side potential is shorted. Connectwell CIMRE Relay Boards come in a pre-configured common negative configuration so that there is no wastage of time or error in installation of these boards. Also because the jumpering is configurable there is no need for dedicated inventory for different types of boards. In case the need arises for common positive or non bussed configuration then the jumper placements can easily be changed to positive locations or spare locations.
Extension Capability
CIMRE Next Generation Relay Boards are provided in standard builds of 2, 4 and 8 channels. This allows the customer to easily create multiple channel configurations as per the need of the application using a special extension cable accessory. Using these 2, 4 and 8 channel boards and extension cables once can configure up to a maximum of 32 channels. This feature also reduces the need for maintaining Relay Boards with specific number of channels. In inventory and also ensures that there is no wastage of relay channels in the application because of static channel configurations in conventional relay boards.
True 10A Performance
Conventional relay board manufacturers degrade the PCB of the product thus reducing their lifecycle. The Connectwell next-generation relay boardss ensure there is no compromise in the potential of relays with 70µm PCB track and time tested screw connection technology. CIMRE boardss are the only solution which can guarantee a load current of 10 amperes.
Large Guided Wire Entry
Conventionally, PCB terminals were used for wiring the relay boards. These PCB terminal blocks generally offer a very small wire entry area leading to a chance of creating loose connections as the wire may not enter and get clamped completely or alternatively the wire may be clamped only partially leading to the possibility of local heat rise and failure. As against this Connectwell CIMRE Relay Boards are designed with large guided wire entry points which ensure quick, easy and error-free insertion, with or without ferrules/ lugs which in turn ensures a safe and secure connection every time.
Ease of wiring with Automatic Screw Drivers
Conventional relay boards with PCB terminals do not allow for usage of automatic screwdrivers for wiring as the screwdriver entry area on the PCB terminal blocks is small. Whereas Connectwell's next-generation relay boards provide a large guided wire entry area in which automatic (pneumatic or electrical) screwdrivers can be used for wire tightening thus ensuring quick, easy and error-free wire insertion, with or without ferrules/lugs.
Laser Marking
A small but important design detail is the use of high-visibility and long-lasting laser markings on the Relay Boards. This replaces sticker marking, which often fades, peels or wears-off. Laser marking in reality is not a print but actually a process of etching and hence guaranteed to last forever against chemical, environmental or mechanical abrasion of any type.
Multiple Marking Positions
In an electrical circuit or panel to identify any product the group markers are used, Connectwell supplies all next-generation relay boards with the two levels of marking. One is a large vertical flush-mounted marker which is present on all relay boards and the other is an optional GMH8 or GMH8N group marker for horizontal marking, providing all round visibility.
Compact Design with secure mounting
The compact enclosures of the Connectwell next-generation relay boards provide a 35% volumetric savings with a robust, spring-loaded latching mechanism that secures mounting on the DIN rail.
Standards & Approvals
The Connectwell next-generation relay boardss are tested as per the IEC 60664 standards and all major components are recognised by Underwriter Labs’ ( UL). This ensures that you can trust CIMRE Relay boards to perform at levels you have come to expect of Connectwell products.
